The TEA bargaining team is making positive progress with the District’s new team make-up.  As you are aware, this year’s negotiations are especially difficult with the projected budget deficit of $44 M for next year.   About $8 M of the projected deficit stems from loss in student enrollment; the other $36 M is based on announced potential budget cuts from the Arizona State Legislature and the Governor.  We’re also at an added disadvantage over other local districts because we don’t have override funding.
